Update on Keller Joel Hyunsoo

I figured it was time to give an update on how Keller is doing. Well, we think he is doing great! He loves to play with Kylee & Chuy; he loves to sing & dance; and he LOVES to eat! The happiest times of his day are when he is cramming little fist fulls of cheerios or almost any food into his cute little mouth. He also loves snuggles and kisses, which we all love. Developmentally he seems to be doing very well. He began walking about 14 months, which is when Kylee began walking as well. So yes, he came to us running or running from us. :o)
Many have asked how he is doing with the language. They told us in Korea that he was not using any words yet, except once in a while "Um ma" (momma). Although we know he was understanding alot. He is doing great with the language adjustment! We could tell even in Korea that he was understanding some of what we were saying to him...he responded to his name (Keller) and to "no" almost immediately. Now just 4 weeks later he is using signs for "milk", "eat", "more", "sorry" & "drink". He waves and says bye-bye, which he says with a southern accent like he is from Texas. He says, "Momma", "Da Da", "teentee" (stinky), "diga, diga, diga," (tickle, tickle, tickle), "uh-oh" & "up". He imitates alot and tries to repeat other things we say.
As I have said he loves to sing. Well, his big sister walks around singing all day long. So he has picked this up too. One of her favorite songs is, "I'm so happy, I've got the love of Jesus in my heart...". He now sings this with us all. Of course he doesn't have the words yet, but he follows along with voice influction in all the right spots. It's pretty cute.
Kylee & Keller are playing together pretty well most of the time. They have their sibling moments of struggling to share, but all is normal. 9 out of 10 times Kylee is more than excited to introduce her "baby brother" and has things to say like, "he's so cute"! She calls him, "Keller Boy", "Little Buddy", "Hyunsoo" or "Baby Brother". But last Sunday when her Kid's Church leader asked about her new brother, her response was, "He bites". Nice. Yes, he does...we are working on that.
We are sleeping better. I still end up in his room at some point during the night. But it is much less frequent and he is much easier to console and quiet back to sleep.
His physical checkup went well. We had to do some standard bloodwork and he was very unhappy about that. They took 6 vials from his poor little arm, after poking around in the other one in search of a vein. On Friday I got a call from the Pediatrician that we have to have his blood drawn & tested again, because some things came back a little high. Probably and prayerfully it's nothing, but I am not happy that I have to put him through the blood draw again. We also have an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist tomorrow. Again hopefully and prayerfully it will be a quick & easy appt with a good report.
Well, that's an update for you. Better go. It's Sunday, family, popcorn time.

Well, your kids are both so cute I can hardly stand it! Sounds like Keller has adjusted beautifully! I can't believe he is already saying so many words in English, when he wasn't really saying anything in Korean when you picked him up just a short time ago! That's amazing!
