How is it possible that this little darling...
Is now this beautiful princess...
We are so proud of Miss 4 Year Old, Kylee! Some fun things about the Birthday Girl... She is strong, smart, athletic, compassionate, loyal, joyful, loving, tenderhearted, patient, easy going & still keeps us laughing daily. She still loves swimming and gets better & braver all the time. She loves her friends & family. She loves music, dancing & movies. She can write her name, knows her letters & numbers. She can do a few simple additions. This summer she gave up thumbsucking, night time pull-ups & most naps. She is insistent and has been for months, that when she turns 4, she wants to take violin lessons. She eats more things than she would a year ago. Kylee can be adventurous especially when it comes to things like outdoors fun, water & the farm. But when it comes to eating she has never been to keen on trying new things. But this year she has added several fruits, veggies, meats & an occasional ice cream that she wouldn't eat before. She still doesn't care much for sweets except for chocolate & donuts. One of her new favorites this summer is steak, or as she would call it "mis-steak". In fact this is what she requested for her birthday dinner.
Our "Mis-steak" Dinner was on Saturday evening. We invited several friends and family. We had a great time! We let (with a tad of guidance) Kylee lay out the menu: Scoops & salsa for appetizer; Steak, parslied potatos, zucchini, cresent rolls & fruit salad for main course & strawberry chocolate chip cupcakes for dessert. Kylee helped make the cupcakes and they had to have sprinkles too. She ate about half of hers and then asked for more steak. Most kids want more cake (like her little brother), but this little one wanted two more servings of steak. Hahaha. And since she at least likes the idea of ice cream (and mom, dad & brother love it) we attempted home made chocolate ice cream. Unfortunately it never set-up. After the last guest left, and the machine had been running for about 4 hours, we had a little "chocolate milk". Next time we will stick with the vanilla that always turns out perfect. Oh well. It was a fun evening for Kylee & all of us surrounded by special people celebrating with our girl. She also got a special call from best friend, Sybella, who is vacationing in Jamaica right now.
Sunday was her Birthday. Joel & I filled 72 balloons Saturday night and filled her room while she was sleeping. I was hoping for a thrill of excitement at this. But her response was, "Mom, why did you put all these balloons in here?" Funny. But after she woke up more she & Keller thought it was pretty fun and played in the balloon room for a while. Now the 72 (plus those from the dinner party decorations) are all over the house. After the balloon fest we headed downstairs for gifts & breakfast: donuts with sprinkles for breakfast, and her scooter she has been asking for since riding one at Faith's house in May. She was very happy! After church & attempted naptime, we went to the pool. It was a good day!
In a couple weeks she starts her 2nd year of preschool, 3 days a week this year. She is very excited to be in the "elephants" class as a 4 year old. She will also be able to go Bible study with me & Keller this year too, since she won't be in school on Tues. They have a great kids program & she is looking forward to it.
Here are some pictures from her fun weekend...
