We made the long drive to TX to visit family. Kylee did great, two full days in the car and hardly a complaint! We are thankful to be here and to be enjoying this holiday with those we love. Strangly enough it was 50-some degrees when we left VA and it has been in the 30's since we got here two nights ago! "Baby, It's Cold Outside", for TX.
My Favorite Things: Some of my favorite memories of Christmas are from spending Christmas with my Mamaw & Papaw in Houston. My parents would pile us in the car and drive to their place. We were greeted at the door every-single time with squeals from my Mamaw even if it was 2am. Mamaw loves Christmas like no one I have ever seen. And it is just contageous! She would have baked for days, making sure she had every traditional cookie or candy, wanting to grant every wish. Every waking moment the home was filled with Christmas music. She would even crank up the air conditioner so that they could light a fire in the fireplace. We would leave cookies and milk for Santa. Then we would be beckoned to the living room Christmas morning with the same song each year, "Gather Round the Christmas Tree". If we happened to awake early, we could not "gather" until we heard the song. We would open presents and Papaw would read the Christmas Story. It was always the perfect Christmas. Mamaw is still this ultimate romantic Christmas tradition lover. I can't wait to see her this week! Sadly we lost my Papaw this year & we miss him. But I know he is at the ultimate Christmas/Birthday party in heaven!
