Kitchen Re-do

Well after years of talking about it and trying to decide how much we wanted to do & spend, we decided to overhaul the kitchen. We kept the flooring the same, with the exception of scrubbing every square inch with alot of elbow grease. We had the cabinets refaced and a new countertop and sink & faucet put in. We also had the ugly white & flowered backsplash torn out. Then another contractor had to come in and patch the walls for us. But we had the ceiling hole in the living room from the upstairs bath leak to have fixed as well. I was so glad to have solid walls and ceiling again! Joel & the kids installed a new disposal. The paint in the kitchen was the worst paint job I have ever seen! It was a dark red thrown on over torn wallpaper & who knows what else. It was smeared on the ceiling in places and uneven everywhere. And it made the kitchen so dark. So I knew I wanted to go brighter, and as you see I did! After patching, priming, & painting the ceiling, I textured the walls with a stucco treatment. With inspiration from my Dad & Step-Mom's wall treatments I decided that the texturing would even out all those imperfections. And I loved how it looked. I got the low-down from my Dad on how to do it (more than once). And then jumped in. It was really fun! And I am really happy with the results. And then we painted. Ta-Da...
Oh and in the middle of the kitchen project we had wood floors installed on our main level & new carpet throughout the rest of the house. Yay! Love the wood, especially! Yay for projects being done!
